DEZAIKO: from the First Nation's Lheidli T’enneh word "Dzulhcho” meaning BIG MOUNTAINS
The Dezaiko Range is located on the snowy western slope of the Rocky Mountains. This is big snow country.
Our snowpack at the lodge averages about 300 cm. Most of that falls cold and light since we are a latitude of 54°.
Dezaiko is a lodge for backcountry skiers.
Built in 1985, Dezaiko Lodge is one of the first generation of backcountry ski lodges in British Columbia. We significantly expanded and renovated the lodge to improve guest comfort in 2021, while keeping the original spirit of the lodge intact.
Our guests rave about the variety of our terrain and its easy accessibility from the lodge.
Our latitude, combined with a cool moist climate, has resulted in very open forests. Natural glades are abundant from treeline to valley bottom. Treeline at this latitude is low, about 5000 feet. The peaks in the area rise to about 7000 feet.
“All of us loved the ‘new’ lodge – not crowded, beautiful workmanship. It is a huge improvement over what I experienced 10 years ago. On par with (or better than) the others.”
